The Trees of Walpole – a Winter Walk with Lynn Levine

January 12, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join forester, naturalist, and educator Lynn Levine for an exploration of the trees of downtown Walpole, NH. The day will begin indoors at the Walpole Town Hall for a short talk about the trees we will encounter on the walk, and the historic use of some of the species we will be looking at. Learn the life cycle of shade trees and evergreens, the difference between native and exotic species, and how to Identify trees by their bark and silhouettes.

We will be examining over 20 species of trees, shrubs, and vines, including two tree species on the northern limit of their native range: the interesting American Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera),  and a pair of enormous American Sycamores (Platanus occidentalis).

The walk is on flat easy terrain, but, there may be snow or ice to deal with.
Hot beverages will be served after the walk.
